Try mixing the cooled pasta with Italian dressing and chopped bell pepper, onion, tomato, black olives and plenty of parmesan cheese. There are more recipes above. Have fun!

Can you cook regular pasta in the microwave?

We Answered:

I'm not sure about the pasta. I must say I've never tried because it's so quick to boil. I think there are ramen noodles that you can make in the microwave. They are vegetarian and healthy too. You can do them because you eat them with the water. You usually get a little packet of something to add to them. You can get all sorts of different ones too that use whole wheat or rice.

You could do baked potatoes in the microwave. They don't come out as crispy but they take a quarter of the time.
I do mine with Philadelphia and black pepper. There really isn't anything better, served with grated carrot and lettuce salad or tomatoes for a bit of freshness.

You can make cous cous dishes like tabouleh. Cous cous (or bulghur wheat) doesn't need to be boiled. You boil some water in the microwave and add it to a bowl of cous cous to just cover it. Add salt, some olive oil and some lemon juice if you like the tang of lemons (I squeeze the juice and then chuck the lemons in for good measure - I take them out again to serve of course).
You leave this to soak for at least an hour and you should have some soft and fluffy cous cous on your hands.

This you can use for loads of things but the most common dish is tabouleh.
Add some mint and fresh coriander (which you can grow yourself on a window sill), some cherry tomatoes, chopped onion and cucumber and you have yourself a nice consistent dish that you can store for a few days to dip into.
It's usually even better the day after you make it because all the flavours have combined.
You can experiment on that basis. I've done mango and lime tabouleh and also feta and balsamic.

I'm not a big microwave user I'm afraid so I haven't got any more suggestions that this but it's a start!

Good luck. Not having a hob won't be easy but it'll be an experience!

Do you have any good recipes that freeze well?

We Answered:

Does your family have any favorite casseroles? They usually freeze well.
You could also try
* taco meat - should freeze ok already cooked and seasoned
* sloppy joes - again, you can freeze the meat already cooked
* meatloaf - either freeze a large loaf or shape into individual "mini loaves" for faster cooking
* lasagna -depending on the size of your family, you could freeze a large pan, or split the recipe between 2 8x8 pans.
* meatballs - either for a meatball sandwich or for spaghetti and meatballs
* soups/stews/chili

I use allrecipes.com when I'm trying to find a recipe, so I've added links to my favorites below. If these don't interest you, try browsing through the site - you'll probably find a lot that interests you.

Also, do you have a slow cooker? If so, try this pot roast recipe.

2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix
1 1/4 cups water
4 1/2 to 5 1/2 pound pot roast

Put the pot roast in the slow cooker. Mix the cans of soup, dry onion soup mix and water and pour over the roast. Cook
high for 3 to 4 hours or on low for 8 to 9 hours. If you don't like a lot of salt, get the low-salt soup mix or don't use the whole packet of dry soup mix.

Brown Gravy Round Steak
Recipe #123445
This recipe is sure to be a hit. It came from a lady I knew when I was in high school. It is my favorite dish to make. Just be careful while it's cooking, it's really easy to burn. My microwave time is different than in the recipe, it only takes mine to cook it in 30 to 35 minutes.
