coconut shrimp (creamy white)?

We Answered:

I like it also. It is walnut shrimp even though there aren't really any walnuts in it but some places serve it with candied wal-nuts.

I haven't made the recipe myself yet, but have been linked to some oline. My favorite one I had is with smaller shrimp, and no breading.

This is the asnwer I chose as best answer when I asked about it myself.

Walnut Prawn (核桃虾)

Ingredients:

1 lb. 31/40 count shrimp/prawn
1/2 cup Walnut halves (make sure you get the walnut halves)
3 tablespoons mayonnaise
1/2 tablespoon honey
1/2 tablespoon condensed milk
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 egg white
1/2 cup corn starch (for coating the prawn)
Oil for frying

For the Walnuts:

1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup water

Method:

Peel and deveined the shrimp/prawn. Pat dry with paper towels, add the egg white, mix well with the shrimp and set aside.
Rinse the walnut halves with water, drain and set aside.
Heat up the water until it boils and add in the sugar.
Keep stirring until it turns thick and golden color and then add the walnut.
Boil for 2 minutes, then drain and place walnuts on a cookie sheet/parchment paper to dry. (Regular paper will not work as the walnut will stick to it).
Heat the oil in a wok over high heat.
Coat the shrimp with a thick layer of corn flour and then and then fry in the hot oil until golden brown. Remove the shrimps from the wok and drain on paper towels.
In a bowl, stir together the mayonnaise, honey, condensed milk and lemon juice.
Add shrimp and toss with the mayonnaise sauce.
Transfer to a serving plate and garnish the candied walnuts on top of the shrimp and serve immediately.
Cook's Note:

To get more bang for your buck, you can buy frozen shrimp in a pre-packed box. The frozen shrimp usually comes in a frozen block. During sales, a box of 31/40 count shrimp can be as low as US$15/box.

Is this it? It doesn't call for mayo, but I don't see why you couldn't add a small dollop to the mixture right at the end.

Shrimp Sandwich

1/4 cup chopped onion

1 clove garlic, minced

1 tablespoon butter

1 pound medium cooked shrimp, peeled

1/2 cup chicken broth

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried basil

1/2 teaspoon dried thyme

1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

4 cups torn salad greens

sandwich buns

In a large skillet, saute the onion and garlic in butter until onion is tender. Add shrimp; cook and stir for 2 minutes. Stir in the broth and seasonings. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 4 minutes or until heated through. Place salad greens on four plates; top with shrimp mixture, or add to sandwich buns with torn salad greens.

Does anyone have a recipe for Creamy Shrimp Scampi?

We Answered:

Shrimp in Garlic Sauce Recipe
Serves 4
Based on a popular Spanish tapa, or appetizer, this dish is delicious enough to serve as a main course. You just saute the shrimp in garlicky, spicy olive oil and then toss them with sherry, lemon juice, and a handful of parsley. The shrimp will be equally good hot or at room temperature.

WINE RECOMMENDATION:
Bold Mediterranean flavors welcome an easygoing wine such as a dry rosé from Spain or the south of France. If you prefer a wine with a bit more sweetness, try a white zinfandel from California.

RECIPE INGREDIENTS
1/3 cup olive oil
4 cloves garlic, cut into thin slices
1 bay leaf
1/4 teaspoon dried red pepper flakes
2 pounds large shrimp, shelled
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon fresh-ground black pepper
3 tablespoons dry sherry
2 tablespoons lemon juice
3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

RECIPE METHOD
In a large frying pan, heat the oil over moderate heat. Add the garlic, bay leaf, and red-pepper flakes and cook for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add the shrimp, salt, and black pepper to the pan and stir to combine. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the shrimp are just done, 4 to 5 minutes. Stir in the sherry, lemon juice, and parsley.

FISH ALTERNATIVES: Squid would be delicious with the garlic sauce. Cook it quickly (for about two minutes), or it will become tough and rubbery. Sea scallops are another alternative; cook them for about two minutes per side, without stirring, so they brown nicely.

NOTES: Dark shrimp veins are usually removed for aesthetic purposes. We find that it's not essential to take them out, especially if you're pressed for time.
