What is good with Tom Young Goon which is a Spicy shrimp soup and something besides rice?

We Answered:

How about a cold noodle salad. In sticking with the Thai theme, here is a recipe. Oh, by the way.. it is Tom Yum Kung.
Spicy Thai Noodle Salad Recipe
This is my favorite cold noodle salad! I loved it so much, we made mass quantities for my wedding. There are some similar recipes out there, but after testing over and over, here is the combination that I think works best. I kept the recipe vegetarian, but I usually add cooked bay shrimp. You can add any kind of meat or veggies!! You can also omit or add more of the cayenne depending on your "spicy tolerance"! You can certainly substitute spaghetti for the Soba noodles, but Soba noodles really work best.

30 min | 30 min prep | SERVES 8 1 lb soba noodles
3 tablespoons sesame oil (the oil is strong, don't add more)
4 tablespoons canola oil
6 tablespoons honey
6 tablespoons soy sauce
4 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
3 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
1 1/2 teaspoons cayenne
1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
5 red bell peppers, sliced thin and long
4 cups peas (frozen works fine)
16 green onions
1 1/2 cups honey roasted peanuts (leave whole)
1 1/2 cups cilantro, chopped coarse
2 limes, cut in wedges for garnish

Cook pasta in a large pot of salted water. Check cooking directions, soba noodles can cook literally in minutes. Drain pasta well. Let pasta dry a bit or water on the pasta will dilute the dressing.
Whisk sesame oil, canola oil, honey, soy sauce, vinegars, ginger and cayenne in a small bowl to blend.
Season with salt.
Heat a few tablespoons of dressing in saute pan over medium high heat (be careful, dressing can burn easily).
Add peppers to pan for about 2 - 3 minutes to ligtly soften, they should still be crunchy.
Add all other ingredients to pasta along with remaining dressing. Mix salad well, you will probably need to use your hands.
Garnish with lime wedges.
Serve right away or chill as long as overnight.
Add peas shortly before serving. If you add them too early they will turn a "lovely" shade of grey.

Does anyone know a good mexican caldo de camaron (shrimp soup) recipe?

2 tbs lard or oil

1 jalapeno pepper

1 small onion

1 small tomato

3 garlic cloves

fresh or dry oregano

7 to 8 cups water

salt & pepper to taste

1 or 2 lbs of shrimp (depending on how much shrimp you want)

1 medium fish (white or cat fish)

3 or 4 zucchini squash

3 carrots

3 corn on the cobs

3 green onions

cilantro

lemon slices

Wash and chop onion, tomato, jalapeno, garlic, carrots, green onions, zucchini, and cilantro. Clean fish, cut in large pieces. Clean the back vain from shrimp trying to leave tail on. Cut each corn in 3 pieces. In a stew pot add lard/oil until hot add chopped onion, jalapeno, tomato, garlic & oregano. Mix well & cook like if you were making a sauce, add water, carrots, corn, salt & pepper cook for about 15 to 20 minutes. You can add more garlic if you want too here also. Add fish & zucchini cook for about 10 minutes, add shrimp green onions and cilantro. Cook ! for about 2 to 3 minutes, turn off heat, cover and let sit for the favors to mix. Some people like to add avocado to the caldo, serve it on the soup dishes and add avocado slices. Cut up extra onion, cilantro, jalapeno peppers, and the lemon slices to set on the table for extra condiments. Serve with hot corn tortillas or with gorditas & enjoy.

shrimp soup?

We Answered:

It sounds to me like a typical Shrimp Bisque.
Generally outside the US the term prawn is used instead of shrimp.
An internet search for Prawn Bisque will yeld loads of recipes.

If you are dining out and have a soup with shrimp in it, and the shrimp are not peeled, what do you do?

We Answered:

My mother always told me that the best part of the shrimp is the shell so I just eat the whole thing.

Just kidding of course. Personally, I'd probably finish the soup then peel and eat the shrimp last.

can shrimp soup be bad for stomache flu?

We Answered:

Give him chicken noodle soup or clear broth instead. Have him drink Gatorade or Pedialyte since he is throwing up and such.

Leslie Said:

Can i eat Flavor Shrimp Ramen Noodle soup if i'm allergic to shellfish?

We Answered:

Usually if something is shrimp flavored it contains some type of shrimp essence..it could be shrimp powder or dried shrimp broth. I wouldn't risk it, I also have a shrimp allergy and I don't use the shrimp flavored packets..you could use the noodles and flavor it with chicken, beef broth instead.
