McCormick-Shilling makes great steak seasonings. We like the Montreal Steak one the very best. Just sprinkle the seasoning on the meat and poke it with a fork and marinate in some olive oil for an hour or so in the fridge. (A zip lock bag works well for this.) Remember that the more that you poke the meat with a fork, the more tender that it will be. Then Broil or BBQ to desired doneness. My husband loves Med rare and I like well done. We both enjoy these seasonings.

EYE OF THE ROUND STEAK

Wrap a slice of bacon around each eye of the round steak, insert a toothpick to hold bacon secure.

Sprinkle with garlic salt, seasoning salt and Worcestershire sauce. Marinate for at least 30 minutes for flavor.

Fry steaks in butter until brown with lid off. Turn steaks and cover. Simmer a few more minutes.

TANGY EYE ROUND STEAK

2 (8 oz.) beef eye round steaks, cut 1 inch thick
Juice of 1 lime
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. ground coriander
1/2 tsp. cumin
1/4 tsp. freshly ground pepper

Combine lime juice, garlic, coriander, cumin, and pepper. Trim all visible fat and place beef eye round steaks in plastic bag. Pour marinade over steaks; turning to coat. Tie the bag. Refrigerate 30 minutes, turning once. Remove steaks from marinade. Heat medium size heavy frying pan over medium heat. Add steaks and pan broil, 4-5 minutes each side.

Crockpot Round Steak

There are many crockpot recipes for round steak but this one will taste just like the round steak that your mom use to make. You will need:

* 1 ½ pounds of round steak,
* 4 tablespoons of flour, a little vegetable oil,
* ½ beef broth, and
* 1 cup of carrots diced,
* 1 teaspoon of sugar, and
* a pinch of salt.

To prepare: cut the steak into pieces, and brown in skillet, season with the salt and pepper. Now, place the steak in the crockpot.

Combine the beef broth, carrots, sugar and thyme and pour over the steak. Cover and cook 8 hours. To make a wonderful gravy to go with this steak, use ¾ cup of the liquid from the crockpot, add the liquid to a skillet with 2 tablespoons of flour stir consistently until the mixture thickens. As the liquid thickens you can add more water or milk until you have enough gravy to feed your family. If you use milk, it will no longer be brown gravy, but will be more like cream gravy.

Crockpot recipes for round steak can be changed by using some of your own favorite seasonings and or vegetables.

The idea is to try using a crockpot next time you want a meal ready when you get home from work. If you use a crockpot, all you will need to do is serve and enjoy.

Remember, you can add all kinds of vegetables like potatoes, broccoli, zucchini, and carrots to a crockpot with your round steak and you will have an entire meal ready when you get home.

round is a lean meat so dredge in flour then brown then add some liquid like liption onion soup mix
bring to a simmer only (no boil) cook at a simmer 3 hrs usually till tender.

on steaks i like to rub with kikoman soy sprinkle unseasoned meat tenderizer then rub with olive oil
if you dont have olive use what you have I like to use my cast iron grill pan works best cook usually at med heat 4 min each side after cooking place on a warm plate let steak rest about 5 min

I suggest an oven or crock pot since round steak is best when slowly cooked. It can get tough if cooked at too high a temperature.

I usually use eye of round to make Swiss steak. Cut the meat into serving size pieces and pound with a mallet (a heavy potato masher works just fine) to tenderize.

Dip the meat into flour that's been seasoned with salt, pepper, and a little paprika. Fry on both sides until lightly browned.

Place in a casserole and top with two cans of undrained diced tomatoes that have been seasoned with onion and garlic salt, a dash of Worchestershire sauce, and a couple of teaspoons of sugar. You can also use canned tomatoes with Italian seasoning: omit the other seasonings.

Bake at 350 degrees until meat is tender -- about thirty five to forty five minutes. Serve over rice or noodles.
