What is the best steak to barbecue?

We Answered:

It's hard to go wrong with either a ribeye or a NY strip. About 1 to 1.5 inches thick is ideal for the grill. Anything thicker and you get a charred exterior and raw middle (although I actually know people who like it that way). I second the simple salt and pepper treatment. Don't be afraid to season the steak generously as most of the s & p grains fall off when you move the steak around. Some say as a guideline about 3-5 minutes per side if you like your steaks medium-rare (tender and juicy). Don't be afraid to poke the meat with your finger to test doneness. If it feels like the fleshy part of the back of your hand between your thumb and index finger with your hand balled up into a loose fist, it's about done. Remember, the steak will continue to cook (internal temp. will continue to rise) even after you pull it off the grill for about 10 minutes. So don't slice it until it's had time to rest or you'll end up with a dry steak. With practice, you'll be able to nail it every time. Have fun and enjoy!

Anyone have some good recipes for home-made Barbecue sauce, or marinade for steak, chicken, fish, etc?

We Answered:

get some of the essentials, salt, peppers, and here comes the interesting. Wut i do is i get some oranges, if u can get sourer oranges even better, kus they tenderize the meat.
on top of this if u like some spice to it...u can add some beer to it, dark beer is to sweat so get a beer that is really ganna give the meat that taste of hops in it......i would also do another batch with rum or some tequila just to a do a variety in your servings, by the way if u leave the meat in ur fridge for a couple of nights its better, kus the taste really gets in the meat; on the other hand done worry about the alcohol ini it, i'll be cooked and only the taste will be in the meat to ur kids kan eat it too....good luck

Whats an appropriate non-alcoholic drink to take with barbecue and steak?

We Answered:

Since barbecue is considered a Southern dish, try sweet tea. That's Southern, too, so they go well together. Of course, if you don't like sweet drinks with your meal, plain iced tea will do fine. I like cola with mine; your taste may be quite different, so try something you think you'll like.

Can I make barbecue steak on my oven?

We Answered:

Yes, you can use a nice cast iron skillet, or an indoor grill pan. Sear the outsides, and depending on how thick the cut of meat is, you may want to also put it in the oven for a while to cook the insides. It will probably cook rather quickly.
