If the marinade was acidic, your steak may be just a bit mushy by the time you go to cook it. The acids in a marinade will break down the protein in the meat, usually resulting in a nice tender piece of meat. But if let go too long, the meat will be overly tender. If it was just a basic steak marinade, sitting that long won't hurt it, but it doesn't really help either. Marinades usually work best when left for 1-12 hours.Brett Said:

sure can. Marinate the steak and put it in the fridge for a couple of hours. But discard the marinade when you cook your steak. dont use it as a dipping sauce.
