Steak sauce is thickened worstishire(sp?) sauce. Bbq sauce comes in a wide range of flavors and is sweetened due to molasses and brown sugar.Lisa Said:
Is it an insult to the chef if one puts steak sauce on their steak? We Answered:
Where I'm from, if you put steak sauce on a steak & I have had to from time to time, it is usually because the steak doesn't taste that good without it. I am also a cook in a restaurant & have cooked steaks there for 10 years now. We have 2 bottles of A-1 & 2 bottles of Heinz 57. They last a long time. Our steaks are that good. You have to start with a good quality steak & don't, I mean DON"T over cook it. Medium Rare has the most flavor. After I turn it over, I brush with butter & sprinkle with California Style Garlic Salt with Parsley & Montreal Steak Seasoning. I make my own bleu cheese butter that some order with it , but as an accompaniment rather than a way to disguise the steak.Would I be offended if one puts steak sauce on a steak I have served. Prooooobably not, because I know some people have eating fetishes, like my husband eating ketchup with potato chips, but I would ask them "What is wrong with your steak?" I would wonder what I did wrong to the steak to make you put that sauce on it.
Start with a good steak such as rib eye, cook it med rare & season it right & you will probably do away with the steak sauce. Hope this helps.

steak sauce?We Answered:
I got this from a website a year ago and we love it.Ingredients
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 pound assorted mushrooms, such as button, shiitake, cremini, or portobello, cleaned, trimmed and quartered or cut into sixths, if large.
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt plus more
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 shallots, minced
1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh thyme leaves
1/4 teaspoon finely chopped fresh rosemary leaves
Freshly ground black pepper
1/4 cup dry red wine
2 tablespoons heavy cream
1 tablespoon finely chopped flat-leaf parsley leaves
1 teaspoon finely sliced fresh chives
Cook it
Heat a medium saute pan over high heat, add the butter, and when the foam subsides, add the mushrooms. Reduce the heat to medium-high and cook, the mushrooms, tossing frequently, until browned, about 5 minutes.
Season with the 1/2 teaspoon salt and pepper to taste. Add the garlic, shallot, thyme, and rosemary, and cook for 2 minutes more.
Pour the red wine into pan, scraping up any browned bits on the bottom of the pan with a wooden spoon. Cook until almost all the liquid has evaporated.
Add the cream, parsley, and chives and stir to combine. Set aside.
Reheat the mushroom sauce if needed and add any accumulated meat juices. Pour the sauce over the steak and serve immediately.

Can I marinate a homemade pizza dough in steak sauce? We Answered:
Pizza dough has to rise and the stuff in A1 will kill the friendly little critters (vinegar and preservatives etc).First let the dough rise (let the yeast do its magic), then if you feel like adding A1 you can knead it into the dough, but as others have said it may get a bit sticky.
If you can find a dry powder flavoring that will work better. The salt and minerals will also make water come out thereby again leading to a bit of a mess.
It could be accomplished in appreciable qty and with trial and error you could perfect the process by adding some extra dry flour when adding the A1 sauce as suggested by an earlier guru.
If its the smoke flavor you want, one can add a tiny drop or two of smoke flavor (available at many fine grocers). Herbs and Spices are also great, but as stated before all the mods are best done after the yeast has done its magic least you complicate matters.
NOTE: If you use a bread maker to make the dough you can add the stuff before the final mix cycle to get you exactly what you want!
Fancy Pizza makin me hungry. BestOLuck and let us know how it turns out.

Judy sent in this delicious recipe for steak sauce. The best part about making your own steak sauces is that you can adjust the ingredients for your own liking.
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup onion, coarsely chopped
1 large clove garlic
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/4 cup white vinegar
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoons prepared mustard
PREPARATION:
Combine all ingredients in saucepan and simmer uncovered for 30 minutes or until it reaches a good consistency, stirring occasionally. Cool. Strain to remove onion and garlic. Store in refrigerator. When cooked this sauce is brown and tastes almost like A-1 sauce.
