I left the beef on the counter for two hours...should I throw it out?We Answered:
Somehow I have manage to get to 70 and my husband to 75 having spent most of our developing years without fridges, sell/use by dates.I've only had food poisoning once and that was after a meal in an hotel.
Our generation reckoned that there were 3 tests to apply to food. 1. Does it look alright? 2. Does it smell alright? 3. Does it taste alright?
If it passes those 3 tests - it's probably alright.
When you thaw it - run it throught those three tests. I'm sure it will be fine especially when I remember how meat sat around for most of a day or more sometimes before being cooked.
As someone has already mentioned, poultry can be a problem with the high levels of salmonella infection, but you are talking about beef.

I am going to make a ground beef stew in a slow-cooker/crockpot. Do I need to fry the beef first? We Answered:
Best to brown the meat first. The slow cooker will leave it clumpy and tough, otherwise.Wayne Said:
