Does this recipe sound good? Should I make changes to recipe? We Answered:
turkey bacon does not have much fat in it, so I would add some canola oil. Next brown the turkey pieces in the bacon before adding the veggies. Browning the meat will add more flavor to the pot. Also you want to add some salt to the veggies for a sweat. Add some garlic to the mix as well as some celery.I would use one of the cans of broth to deglaze the veggie pan. Change the pepper to white pepper it will look better in the final dish. Lastly I would make the rice separate and add it in just before service. Put it in the veggie pan after you remove the veggies and add the broth and let it cook. You could also add some grated parm.Lawrence Said:
I set my crock pot on high for several hours then turned it to medium another 4 hours the food was lukewarm.?We Answered:
You are really in need of help with this one. First off, throw that magic pot in the neighbors garbage, and do it quick. If I had put turkey into the pot, and 8hours later it turned into chicken, I'd run.
But aside from the magic part, at what point did the veggies get done if the liquid stayed cool? and what was the internal temperature of the mess that was left, be it chicken or turkey breast. Did the recipe call for the heat reduction at that time?
Thats the time it seems like the pot quit working.
Try the pot with plain water on high for about three hours, take the temperature, then turn it down as with that mystery meat and see if the temp quits or gets real low. Might be the thermostat or switch at fault.

Cooking a turkey breast in a crockpot? We Answered:
Here's the recipe I use with the modification below.Slow Cooker Turkey Breast
Ingredients:
1 (6 pound) bone-in turkey breast
1 (1 ounce) envelope dry onion soup mix
Directions:
Rinse the turkey breast and pat dry. Cut off any excess skin, but leave the skin covering the breast. Rub onion soup mix all over outside of the turkey and under the skin. Place in a slow cooker. Cover, and cook on High for 1 hour, then set to Low, and cook for 7 hours.
SO EASY AND SO GOOD! I made a few modifications: Using a 7.25lb Bone-in Turkey Breast I layered the bottom of my crockpot with 3 cut-up celery stalks, one sweet yellow onion, 1/4 cup chicken broth, and 1/2 tbsp. minced garilc. Place the turkey breast on top of the celery and onion, rubbed the turkey inside and out with the onion soup packet (lifting up the skin on top of the breast and adding the seasoning right on the meat works great!), also rub some oregano, sage, thyme, and 1/2 tbsp minced garlic on the breast. Drizzle the breast with 1 tbsp. melted butter. Cooked on high 1 hour, low for 7 hours more. Perfect moist turkey! Smells and tastes great, plenty of leftovers for sandwiches, casseroles, or enchiladas!
